This is the monthly favourites roundup that you didn’t ask for, but I’m going to give you anyway. A fashion favourite, a beauty favourite, a food favourite, a lifestyle favourite, a health favourite and a music favourite will make up this series each month as I roundup what I’ve been loving and lusting over in the last 30 days.
Fashion Favourite: Maison Essentiele Lace Skirt
There are two occasions that bring out Risqué Rose. The first, my birthday (I have a soft spot for a naked dress come November) and the second, a beach holiday. And my June trip to Bali was no exception. I have had my eye on the Maison Essentiele Lace Skirt for a while but hadn’t found a reasonable excuse to pull the trigger until Bali was on the horizon—and I’m so glad I did. The perfect amount of sexy and cool, this skirt was a beach club dream. I wore it with a white g-banger (lmao) and a singlet but I’m keen to style it under an oversized shirt or t-shirt or over a trouser back in Sydney.
Beauty Favourite: CHANEL Les Beiges Highlighting Fluid
Another favourite I found while packing for my Balinese adventures, this CHANEL highlighter is the best on the market in my humble opinion. Never sparkly but imparting the most gorgeous glow on the skin, I like to use it to top off my cheekbones but also mix it with any body lotion or toning milk to add a glow to my collarbones, arms, legs and chest. 10/10 would recommend. Plus, it lasts forever. I reckon I have had mine for a good three years. And no, I don’t care about when these products expire. YOLO.
Food Favourite: Chicken & Greens Miso Soup
I am a bigggg soup girl come winter. For one, it is a great meal prep because making it for one person means I can basically live off it for a week. It is also super nutrient dense, warming and packed full of all the good stuff. My favourite throughout the month of June was a hearty chicken and greens soup I found on TikTok. You cook an entire chicken in the stock (which creates an almost bone broth-esque base) and then add any greens you have lying around. I also like to add a little miso paste and seaweed to mine for extra flavour and nutrients. And for the times I’m feeling a little extra hungry, I like to add in some glass noodles to make it a bit more substantial.
Lifestyle Favourite: YETI Rambler Water Bottle
If you know me you know I am never without my beloved YETI—so I figured it’s about time it got a proper shoutout. As someone who has tried all the big water bottle brands (Frank Green, Hydroflask, Stanley) I feel qualified enough to make the call that the YETI is top dog. The Rambler model is easy to carry, slimline and carries 26oz of water which means you don’t need to refill as regularly. Mine is now a bit battered and bruised but if that isn’t the sign of a drink bottle well-loved, I don’t know what is.
Health Favourite: Dry Body Brushing
Okay, so this is a little bit of a cheat because I suppose this could technically be considered a beauty favourite. But I make the rules so whatever. With my sad and sorry winter skin at the moment I have been getting back into dry body brushing to slough away dry skin and keep my cell turnover kicking. I use the Goop Body Brush (and have for years) and find it the easiest to use with the longer handle. The practice helps to promote lymphatic drainage, reduce cellulite and stretch marks and gently exfoliate, revealing healthy, glowing skin underneath. I am currently aiming to do it at least four times a week but the more regularly you do it, the better.
Music Favourite: The Middle, Jimmy Eat World
A throwback for all my fellow punk rockers out there, this song feels like an early 2000s movie. The perfect bop for before a night out or while you’re working out, it is just a downright banger so give it a listen.
