March Favourites
A wishlist item secured, sunscreen that you’ll actually want to put on everyday and the banana bread recipe that changed the game.
This is the monthly favourites roundup that you didn’t ask for, but I’m going to give you anyway. A fashion favourite, a beauty favourite, a food favourite, a lifestyle favourite, a health favourite and a music favourite will make up this series each month as I roundup what I’ve been loving and lusting over in the last 30 days.
Fashion Favourite: Nagnata Rydell 3.0 Shorts
A little treat from me to me this month, the Nagnata Rydell 3.0 Shorts in Black have been top of my wishlist for a while. So, I finally pulled the trigger. The perfect athleisure short, I can wear these casually or to Pilates and find the fit ultra-flattering (especially on those days when you don’t want to wear tight bike shorts to your workout class). I also love this colour and think the style just makes the perfect cool-girl addition to any wardrobe. I’ve even seen them styled with knee high black boots for a more dressy finish (shoutout to my friend Hannah pal!) and it’s the above reasoning that validated my spending of $250 on them. No ragrets!
Beauty Favourite: Alpha-H Protection Plus Daily Moisturiser SPF50+
I’ve been on the hunt for a new sunscreen that I love for a while now. It seemed to be a never ending battle until I found the Alpha-H Protection Plus SPF50+. The perfect velvety satin finish (i.e. not too shiny, not too matte), this formula is perfect for under makeup and is also a slightly tinted colour so leaves no nasty white cast on the skin and blurs pores for a smooth finish. It also contains pomegranate seed oil to assist with skin regeneration and protection against free radical damage while you wear. Win, win, win!
Food Favourite: Homemade Banana Bread
A late contender in the month (I literally made it yesterday) but this homemade banana bread recipe will be firmly on the rotation from here on in. Sugar-free, super easy to make and the perfect way to use the 90398378 almost-bad bananas you have sitting in your fruit bowl (I know you do, don’t lie), it’s fluffy and moist (ew, sorry) and downright delicious. Slather on butter and top with sea salt for the best mid-afternoon snack of all time. Not joking. Not exaggerating.
Lifestyle Favourite: Stainless Steel Gua Sha
If you can’t tell from last month’s favourites, I’m big into my lymphatic drainage era at the moment. Enter: my stainless steel gua sha. I have been committed to doing it each morning to help depuff my face before the day ahead and have noticed a big difference in how puffy and inflamed I feel of a morning. It’s pretty easy to get the hang of, the most important thing is just to ensure you’ve activated your drainage points before you start. Read: ‘pumped’ underneath your armpits, behind your ears and at your collarbones. This will ensure the retained fluid knows where to drain from. It’s also a super inexpensive habit—I just bought mine from Amazon!
Health Favourite: Sleep (LOL)
Turns out proper sleep can be life changing… who knew? Since breaking my foot at the end of February, my priority has been on rest and rehabilitation and prioritising my sleep has been a big part of this. Especially as the weather has gotten slightly cooler, I have found that my sleep has improved dramatically over the last month. I have also been trying to have a better pre-sleep routine by limiting blue light (I’m working on it) and meditating before bed each night. All in all, I’ve noticed that since my sleep has improved, I feel more energetic, am able to recover quicker and am probably just nicer to be around in general. It’s true what they say, as it turns out.
Music Favourite: The Reason, Hoobastank
A proper throwback but a fricken banger nonetheless, The Reason by Hoobastank has been on high rotation this month. Perfect for when you’re in your feels (or when it’s torrentially raining like today), this song is pure nostalgia and I will be able to listen to it on repeat forever. Sad that they were a one-hit-wonder but shoutout Hoobastank for this tune.
Your black knee high boot looks fab with your shorts 😘
