This is the monthly favourites roundup that you didn’t ask for, but I’m going to give you anyway. A fashion favourite, a beauty favourite, a food favourite, a lifestyle favourite, a health favourite and a music favourite will make up this series each month as I roundup what I’ve been loving and lusting over in the last 30 days.
Fashion Favourite: Frame Long Barrel Jeans
A surprising purchase I made in NYC earlier this year, these Frame Long Barrel Jeans have quickly become my favourite pair of denim to wear. With an interesting ‘balloon’ shape and dramatic cuffed detail, these jeans were a shopping underdog for me. Having browsed past them in the Upper East Side store, it wasn’t until the shop assistant suggested I should try them that I decided to step out of my fashion comfort zone—and I’m so glad I did. I sized up so they sit a little lower on my hips and wear them both casually and professionally and have received compliments on them basically every time I have left the house.
Beauty Favourite: Rationale #6 The Night Creme
Baby’s first introduction to retinol, the Rationale #6 The Night Creme has become a fast favourite in my skincare routine. It is super gentle which I love and has skin barrier-restoring ingredients in the formula to nourish the skin while the retinol does its thing. I use it every third night (just to ease myself in) and am finally starting to see a calmer, more even complexion. I will admit, my skin did go through a little ‘purge’ but I truly believe this would have been far more severe if I had used a stronger, serum formula rather than this cushiony cream.
Food Favourite: Classic Roast Potatoes
A little bit of a different food favourite this month but I have been properly obsessed with making a classic roast potato. Par boil them, fluff them up in the colander then douse them in olive oil, garlic and thyme for the yummiest (and pretty healthy) side to any dinner. I have been loving pairing them with a medium rare porterhouse steak and a green salad. My only suggestion would be to hide them from the prying eyes of your housemates (I am looking at you, Allegra).
Lifestyle Favourite: Diptyque Mimosa Candle
I, like many others, am guilty of lighting every single candle in the house once I have cleaned. Not only does it drown out the scents of bleach (yum) but it also acts as a very tangible signal to everyone else to not move a goddamn thing. My favourite candle this month has been the Diptyque Mimosa candle. The perfect combination of fresh linen and light floral notes, this scent is perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon and will linger in the air for hours after you’ve blown it out.
Health Favourite: Vesuvio Healthy Living Estro Clear Detox Blend
I was initially introduced to this powder by my lovely pal Tanika when I was complaining of feeling a bit bloated and sluggish last year. But, as I often do, I completely forgot I had it until I was feeling a bit the same the last month. I have now been consistently drinking it with water every morning for the last three weeks and my digestion and mental clarity is finally back on track. This particular blend works to promote healthy hormone balance and detoxifies harmful xenoestrogens (estrogens that are not naturally produced in the body but are found in the environment, water, food and other products) in your body. This keeps you feeling lean, healthy and confident while caring for your body and skin from the inside out. The only thing I will say is that it tastes, well, not great. So, I’d recommend mixing it into a smoothie if you are sensitive to less-than-delicious tastes.
Music Favourite: Think I’m In Love With You, Chris Stapleton & Dua Lipa
I have definitely been in my country music era recently and just when I thought it couldn’t get any better, a country song featuring my girl crush—Dua Lipa—is released. This song is close to perfection and can be listened to no matter what you’re doing. It’s also especially good if you want to get in your feels.
